Really, just about any Menander or Plautus, used as the basis for a sitcom. Or Apuleius, while we're thinking of good source material.

Absolutely. When I teach students about Menander, one of the things I highlight is just how popular his plays were in antiquity and make the connection to the universal themes that are the stock and trade of sitcoms.

Alternately, with CGI, you could absolutely make a single-season comedy series just adapting the Metamorphoses of Apuleius.
