Honestly, the correct lens to view this through. I love the thought you’ve given this. One of my all-time fave songs—I insisted it was played at our wedding, much to my wife’s chagrin—& I agree that w/out strong “I never” commitment it would ring insincere. What’s the best cover?
Random Music Take: I judge all covers of Mr. Brightside, including alternate genre covers, on basically one criterion: do they commit to the big series of "I Never"s at the end of the song. If not, sorry, nothing else matters, bad cover.
