I don't think I've ever noticed walkouts, but I don't go to many movies and even fewer really experimental films. But the showings of Battle of Five Armies and Rise of Skywalker I went to both had the same deep disappointment vibe after the credits rolled.
In both cases, you could tell there were folks who had basically gone to see the movie with their family as a 'treat' to their fan-spouse/friend/child. It was the feeling of an entire room of people whose birthday gifts had catastrophically misfired.
