Now knowing that you are an adjunct, I'm astounded that you have the time to write a blog like this in the first place. You must really be hell-bent on keeping a vibrant intellectual life to pull this off despite being overworked and underpaid.

To be honest, I have it luckier than most. My better half has a good, stable job, which lets me accept a more reasonable teaching load than I'd be able to if I had to survive on my own. But trying to blog-write, academic-write and teach all at once does require some focus.
