Honestly, there is plenty of dark, cynical or gritty sci-fi out there (some of it is even good). I really wish the folks at CBS would take the risk to play Star Trek's traditional optimism straight, because when everyone is edgy, a 'square' show can stand out. 6/7

Hey, if the senior officers being distant and a bit arrogant turned you off, watch episode 2! I think you'll be pleased. :) Also, remember the show is from the perspective of the ensigns, so we aren't getting the full picture of the bridge officers.
Oh does it get better? That's good to hear. Honestly, I prefer to like things rather than not like things. I don't have an active CBS all-access sub. I might wait till the entire season drops and sub to binge through it.
