Agreed that it is the correct choice. Obviously I am a big fan of the big damn battles of the second two films. But in terms of character and storytelling, Fellowship clearly has the most there - and the filler-ratio is really low.

I love them all, of course, and FELLOWSHIP has nothing like the big set-pieces which built your fame and fortune. But it has the richest world-building and greatest scope for imagination imo, as well as being the most self-contained of the films (necessarily an unfair criterion)
