Yeah, fitting the joining sleeve for the two pieces is no joke.

There is even debate as to if there is a joining sleeve! Connolly reconstructs without. The evidence is uncertain - only one has ever been found; the shaft didn't survive, so use is uncertain. No clear examples in artwork. I actually tend to doubt the joining sleeve.
