I must be the wrong audience for this because every time someone tells me this or that speech/monologue from an Aaron Sorkin show is great or profound, I find it just sort of falls flat for me. I didn't watch the show though. Maybe it works in context?
Standing alone, it's one of these bits that treats pointing out the existence of the "problem of evil" as a mic-drop moment...but monotheistic religions have been addressing that problem in a lot more depth since at least the Book of Job (c. 6th cent, maybe?).
I remain an enjoyer of the show as a show, but its ideology was totally hegemonic among its target audience when it aired, so it threw itself into it to the point of almost total self-parody
