End every class 5 minutes early (ten if you can) with that time reserved for chitchat or making appointments (do the latter first).
Yeah - easier to do with face-to-face (I'm online-synchronous this semester) and with smaller groups (I'm at 70), but I do this with f2f. I often come in a few minutes early to do pre-class chit-chat and then stay up at the front after class ends for questions/appointments.

My class this fall will be about the same size, and also online-synchronous. But I know that some students have low bandwidth and others are in distant timezones, so I'm going to have an unofficial, entirely voluntary, recitation/interactive session one evening a week.
