The only credible policy response to this pandemic is to remove as many non-health incentives from public behavior as is practicable. Instead of haggling over degree, we have one party explicitly arguing that people *should* have economic incentives to spread the virus.
It seems to me that this is a case where slippery slope and incentive arguments clearly don't apply. Any package could just be tied to testing benchmarks or employment benchmarks, or set to automatically sunset in January or whatever.
