@BretDevereaux Loved the conclusion to the Helm's Deep series! I feel like I remember you contrasting the logistics of steppe nomads to other cavalry a few times, have you done a longer piece on that? (/what are some sources you might recommend for that?)

I have not returned to that in detail (it's not really my specialty as I tend to be more focused on the agrarian opponents of nomads than the nomads themselves). But a good starting point would be May, The Mongol Art of War (2007); also discussed in K. Chase, Firearms (2003)
