Thank you! Also, this is Part II of my campaign to convince you to do a series on the Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut.

It's on the list! Alas, the list is long, and it is not near the top yet, but we will get there eventually, I promise.

Seems like a bad call, if you ask me.

Fun writeup! I did think one of Peter Jackson's nicest choices was moving the Ubi Sunt poem to present it as Theoden's arming speech/song.
-
Yes, I think that works very well. And he keeps much of the poem. Less mix-and-match as what he does to the pre-battle poems. I'd still have loved to have seen Eomer actually sing out his "Out of doubt, out of dark, to the dark's rising, I came singing in the sun..." though.

Another epic article. This is probably the most nerdy, pedantic quibble I could possibly have, but "stopped and completely enveloped by heavy infantry" is also pretty much the worst case scenario for cavalry in TW, too.
-
I don't remember how the old ones worked, but in the newer ones, if the infantry doesn't shatter on or shortly after contact then the cavalry is usually in pretty deep trouble. I definitely began to use them in their two historical roles: shock, and murdering retreating infantry.
