If a new book on the Vietnam War uses Vietcong instead of more accurate terms, you know you have a work of questionable quality in your hands. Heck, probably someone not nearly familiar enough with the war.

Yes. National Liberation Front (NLF)––the political, organizing body of South Vietnamese communists. People's Liberation Armed Forces (PLAF)––the armed branch of the NLF.
