There’s a lot of Twitter sentiment telling people they don’t have to be productive now. Agreed, but for me productivity is a coping strategy for depression/anxiety. Being productive generates hope. It is also okay to drive yourself to distraction with work if that’s what you need

Luckily, my income isn't the primary one. And I've got an article to get into peer review, and after that a dissertation to turn into a book contract. And the blog, which is also good for my mental health. It means I'm not writing alone, I'm writing with friends.

I’m in a similar place. My writing has slowed somewhat because online teaching takes more time and I was teaching a lot already, but writing and catching up on scholarship are coping mechanisms.
