Rewatched this recently, and two issues stood out, both caused by forcing the elves into the scene. First, somehow they slip in before the orcs arrive, despite the clear proximity of the latter several scenes earlier. Second, an utter misuse of the elves’ ranged weapons.

On the whole, however, it holds up well. And my appreciation was only heightened by the abominations that were the Hobbit movies.
