Unless you’re interested in the history of Sparta, it was one of my least favorite Greek cities/towns. I loved Athens, Thiva, Pylos, Gialova, Eleftherochori, Thessaloniki history aside, just for their beauty. Sparta was meh. Just my opinion. No less authority than Thucydides said it would be so! Thuc. 1.10.2 It has always seemed strange to me that what Thucydides presents as a hypothetical, we may assess as a fact.

Honestly, the orange trees are the best part. And you can get those pretty much anywhere in Greece.
