I have never listened to a gaming podcast but it's literally unfathomable to me that some gaming groups have sessions that could be listened to coherently. Every in-character exchange I've ever had has been punctuated by multiple forty-minute conversations about pancakes.

Also I know Critical Role is voice actors or whatever but I don't think I've ever been part of a group without at least one person who mostly won't speak in character
Getting my group to speak in character has always been a lost cause. Getting some of them to engage with NPCs at all is sometimes a struggle.

It's so strange to me sometimes, because I find that sort of thing to be the most fun. I once managed to wrangle a to-hit bonus out of a DM for a very British character timing his swings to "It's a Long way to Tipperary" which I very much sung, loudly and badly.
