@BretDevereaux Can you link me to where you calculated it took 2,220 hours per year to produce the minimum necessary textile goods for a household of five? (I'm reading your Sparta series) Aren't textiles an asset that would last for many years?
It's in my dissertation, but not otherwise in print (yet!). If you have access to ProQuest, you should be able to find it, but it might be hard to get otherwise. What you're looking for is in ch 1. I worked from Cato's suggestions for clothing for enslaved farm laborers.
