I was curious, is there a historical basis for named swords such as Ice, Dawn or other Valyrian swords in ASoIaF, or this whole trope mostly comes from myths (Arthur's Excalibur)?
Probably a thing. Most examples come from epic (norse, Anglo-saxon, german, French chasons de geste) but common enough to suggest real practice. Some (Joyeuse, Tizona, etc) attached to historical figures. Also note examples from Japan (e.g. Honjo Masamune).
