Okay, I probably shouldn't have turned that into "should probably watch it tonight" but I kinda half did. It struck me as really interesting how much the show leans on the audience just knowing things about radioactive disaster, particularly the visual significance given to dust

I think there's an assumption that many viewers will go wiki-walk the disaster in a sort of horrified fugue-state. Or maybe that was just me.

Idk. I barely remember covering either radiation poisoning or Chernobyl in general back in high school and I knew exactly what was going on with the focus on the dust. In my viewing party, I was the first to point out the nightmare of throwing water on a radiation fire too.
