Initial report of 23 Americans on board was from an erroneous AP report -we cited it too-that's why w/ these stories cautious is always best

@BretBaier Cable does this on EVERY breaking story: goes wall to wall running every unsubstantiated rumor it hears on another channel. -
@Pissed_Pat citing the AP report and saying "early reports" is hardly an unsubstantiated rumor- thanks for the analysis. -
.
@BretBaier Nah, you're right. Factchecking is for suckers. Just air whatever gossip you hear before someone switches the channel. -
.
@Pissed_Pat I don't think Beltway types know that the rest of us call@AP 'Absolutely Pathetic' & know not to trust them@BretBaier -
@lamblock Bret Baer was quoting the AP. OK, what if AP's source is nothing more than CNN? At some point, SOMEONE has to confirm a story. -
Amen. Independent verification sounds like work and well modern 'journalists' aren't exactly known for pounding the pavement
@Pissed_Pat -
@lamblock They'd rather run rumors for hours rather than get off a story when the facts run dry and risk you changing channels. -
They are vapid people for vapid times
