“I didn’t understand the issue. I’m embarrassed that I made such a proposal.” [The bill was] “the biggest mistake I ever made...a low point of my legislative career, the low point of my governmental career.”

He jumped ship on that stance six years later after the AFL-CIO decided to abandon the policy stance, but he claims his wife changed his mind one day.
-
Either way, Bret knows that Reid apologized about this, but he's telling half truths to suit his fuhrer's stance.

-
That's not what I was saying or I think he was saying. However, Reid only changed his mind when he knew his union backers wouldn't be there for him.

Bret I think the argument is Trump can’t change it by EO? If he wants it abolished he may need an Amendment? This isn’t difficult
-
And also, Bret knows Reid apologized for this statement, and said he didn't understand the issue. Bret is lying like all right trump supporters and trump apologists do.
-
He changed his mind because big money labor union didn't like it. And Reid could not be reelected with out the support or the money!
-
Politics changed a politicians mind? You mean they’re coin operated? You’re kidding?

They used to be against illegal immigration too. Until they realized making them citizens would turn them into democrat voters.pic.twitter.com/fvvCJs7Guu

Respectfully, Harry Reid was wrong then, and president Trump is wrong now.
-
Reid asked he was wrong, and apologized. Let's see Trump do it now.
-
That's good. Politicians acknowledging (and apologizing) for errors is all too rare.

If only congress had addressed this issue back then we would not have over 275000 anchor babies born in the US and have citizenship. But this will go to the SCOTUS and they can interpret the constitutionality of the 14A.

He can admit he was wrong and he made a mistake. Too bad our president can’t.
