U should talk to a chronic pain sufferer. My dm is always open. It's an illicit fentanyl problem primarily from heroin addicts, but the government is pushing false propaganda and reports keep passing it along. Do some fact checks!!

THANK YOU!!!! I'm getting pretty sick of this one-sided reporting while real people are suffering in Rehabilitation facilities after major surgery...Cancer patients etc etc...
@BretBaier be RESPONSIBLE -
Yep. Me too. I’m FED UP with street drug users ruining the lives of
#chronicpainpatients We’re not addicts, we don’t take our meds off script and we respect the meds we’re given. Media is only interested in hysteria. -
Why don’t I see the news doing pieces about the issues we are facing because of the hysteria they are causing?!?! Hmmmm. Not sensational enough I suppose.
-
The media thrives on hysteria, not facts. There is a MUCH LARGER issue here seeing that he government is now gung ho on legalizing pot. Something is afoot here.
@bretbaier -
The Federal, State and local Govt's are loosing cannabis...it is estimated that DEA brings in 60% of its revenue from arrests, fines, fees and asset forfeiture's(only 20% are prosecuted but 80% of assets are seized)from cannabis related "crime".
-
Possibly it’s time for the DEA to think outside the “cannabis” box for their cash cow! Just possibly...
-
I don’t recognize DEA and all the unelected bureaucrats because they’re all extra constitutional. The DEA has wasted BILLIONS of tax dollars on its generational war on drugs and has jailed hundreds of thousands for marijuana (not trafficking but personal use). It’s absurd.

Bret are you aware the when you generalize opioid hysteria - deaths/ addiction...this hurts actual chronically ill & Chronic Pain /Intractable Pain patients? Overdoses due to legitimate prescription medications have been going down for several years.
-
Sir, the statistics that you are quoting are misleading and in accurate. Legitimate patients are paying the price for an opioid hysteria. The majority of overdose deaths are caused due to multiple drug & alchohol intoxication.
-
What they ALWAYS fail to mention is most of the drug overdoses are fake pills (fentanyl) coming from China. And you are SO right, ppl with chronic pain, that do not over use their meds, are the ones who suffer. Drs are scared to actually help their patients..
-
Yes!! I myself deal with chronic illness. The opioid epidemic is horrible and something needs to be done but there also has to be a balance for the patients who ARENT misusing it,& because I am a teenager the doctors a even more scared to prescribe the medicine I actually need.
-
My brother is in the same situation. His doctor was at least honest and told him she was scared to prescribe what she thought he needs.

Booze kills far more
-
Wrong. Check your facts. Drugs and opioids account for nearly 200k more deaths. Data: 2005–2016 National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) Mortality Data.
-
Check YOUR sources. Prescribed opiates killed less than 15,000 people last year and it was a drop of 16% from the previous year.pic.twitter.com/EAq8Sbf7km
-
If you want to defend alcohol, you will have a tough time. We can talk about alcohol in the same way that the CDC talks about opioids. If we do that “alcohol related deaths” per year are around 100K+
-
Yes indeed. Perhaps far more. For example many users of prescription drugs mix with alcohol use greatly increasing likelyhood of death. Looking at opiates perhaps like alcohol has some interesting suggestions
-
For example out right bans tend to cause more issues as well as more violent crime. Regulations and laws can help. Social an education campaigns seems to help more. Intelligent policey even more. Painting opiates, which many people need, in this way has been leading
-
Terrible policies around pain management while apparently the issue increases.
