That wasn't journalism. It was public relations for sexual abuse. It's quite simple: Jordan was an asst coach at OSU, a position of responsibility. He admits to hearing 'locker room talk' about what are crimes. He does nothing although it is his duty to do so.

I think you swallowed the bait hook, just as they planned. You're an honest newsman Bret... but there are people can and do weaponize that fact. Keep your eyes wide open.

It's irrelevant if these scared student athletes filed formal complaints or found a way to disclose in a way they felt safe & unafraid. Jordan was their asst coach. He was morally & ethically responsible as an authority to do/say something. Pathetic backtrack of original denial.

We'll see, won't we. Every parent I know would call for Jordan's resignation if their 18-22 year old boy was being gawked at in the shower. Wouldn't you?

Perverts anywhere should have their genitalia removed in a public ceremony with a dull knife. Be that as it may, nothing about that indicts Jim Jordan. That Jordan has been poking the Hornet's Nest in his work tells me that high levels of suspicion about this is warranted.

Let's be clear. These were young adults/older kids ages 17-21 at most. Males. Embarrassed. Scared. Worried they wouldn't be believed over an adult authority. And it wasn't in the time of #MeToo. Jordan admitted he knew and heard what was happening. 1/2

So, locker room talk about abuse is different than a “report” of abuse. He knew. He’s a Joe Paterno like character in this little drama.

One question for his accusers. If they knew, what did they do? If they did nothing, they are guilty of what they are accusing Congressman Jordan of.

They were student athletes. You think they shouldn't fear reporting on an adult authority figure? They feared not being believed over the Doctor and losing scholarships, position on team, etc. Jim was the asst coach. As an authority figure it was his moral/ethical responsibility.

Jordan should've done something to make sure it stopped. He wanted to protect his job, not the student athletes. Often when one finally comes out (sometimes after years of therapy, substance abuse, etc. after suppressing feelings so long), others follow, e.g., Penn State. 1/2
