Problem: attempted rape was a misdemeanor in 1982 in MC. Statue of limitations to report at the time was 1 year. You have to apply the law as it existed at the time. Same with assault. MC cannot charge even if it wanted to.
Today was very useful for unfollowing a number of national reporters who have very obviously chosen a side. If you want to be an advocate, great. I’m an advocate. We need those in our political system. If you want to be a journalist, you can’t be an advocate.

I agree that I look to mainstream reporters for objective news/facts. Wondering your perspective on niche journalists who might work for outlets covering particular communities (e.g., black, gay or Latino newspapers). Is some level of “advocacy” or subjectivity assumed/expected?

I think that depends on if the outlet holds itself out as an objective source of unbiased news or whether it acknowledges that it serves another purpose or an additional purpose. I think there is room for advocacy journalism, too. As long as the outlet is honest about it.
