This is well documented in Ken Burns' "Not for Ourselves Alone" documentary. SBA specifically did it to appease southern women. It's a blight on women's suffrage that she did that.

So, bear with me cause it'll take several tweets. But this explains the 53% in 2016 that people were baffled by. See, that election was the first time white women had to choose a primary identity, and they'd never been faced with that before. Are you a woman, or white, first?

To that end, Black women have to answer, and avoid, that question on a daily basis in silent ways. I actually had to articulate my choice, Black centered, out loud during the 2008 primaries when white women just assumed I must love and vote for HRC out of feminist solidarity.

This is such an IDIOT move when we are working hard to have suburban women vote with us in big #'s in 2018. Calling us white women and feminist racist is what you are doing. We saw this game from the women who stole the women's march to justify not inviting Hillary.
