History will not be kind to Donald Trump. Because truth matters. Right matters. And decency matters. It may be midnight in Washington, but the sun will rise again. I put my faith in the optimism of our Founders. You should too.

Donald Trump’s disrespect for the flag would be shocking behavior for any other public figure. A city councilman would be driven from office. A country music star would lose her following. A preacher would lose his congregation. But what of this president?

The sheer audacity of Trump's lawyers claiming there is no one to link the freeze on military aid to investigations while blocking John Bolton's testimony is just breathtaking.

An epitaph for the Republican Party in the time of Trump. “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” — George Orwell

News analysis: “Democrats argued that Kansas City is in Missouri. But they failed to convince Republicans that it is not in Kansas.”

Good for you Senator Collins. I hope your colleagues agree, and listen to witnesses. The eyes of history are upon you all.

The evidence will keep coming in. And the verdict of history will condemn the people who refused to hear it.

We’re witnessing the raw, partisan pursuit of power by Senate Republicans, most of whom appear willing to destroy the Constitution if it serves their personal interests. I never thought I’d see such an unpatriotic display in America, let alone the Senate. Never.

Just a complete disgrace and an incredibly dark day for American democracy. No one is going to save us from Trump and his corruption and destruction of the rule of law. Not Mueller. Not 51 Republicans. Not John Roberts. We have to save ourselves. We have 10 months. Get to work.

Fabulous Q by about whether Bolton should be called. Trump lawyer answer was terrible: blaming the House for not calling then, saying it would be a bad precedent. Uh, impeachments CONSTANTLY have new witnesses in Senate. Pres. Johnson's impeachment had 41 witnesses

I never had any illusions that the Senate was going to vote to convict Trump, no matter what the evidence said. But I confess myself utterly stunned that they would really refuse to call Bolton. It shocks the conscience.

Ask yourself 1 question: in a world where 1) 75% of Americans want to hear witnesses, 2) President’s own top guy John Bolton says he’s got impt info showing Trump lying, AND 3) Senate controlled by Rs AND 4) needs 2/3 vote to convict, why are Trump and Rs so afraid of witnesses?

Richard Nixon once made this argument: "When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal." He was forced to resign in disgrace. In America, no one is above the law.

If Trump is acquitted, he can call on foreign govts tomorrow to investigate every Democrat in our nation (and do so in secret). He can ask DOJ to target every Democrat as well, too. And his legal argument, voiced by his lawyer,is that there is nothing wrong with this. Buyer beware

It’s smart of John Bolton to hide evidence in a place where the president will never be able to find it - a book.

It’s mind blowing the White House had a copy of the Bolton book and nobody thought to call Mitch McConnell about it

Quite amazing a White House lawyer said this Saturday “Not a single witness testified that the President himself said there was any connection between any investigations and security assistance, a Presidential meeting, or anything else” in light of Bolton revelations next day ...
