    Working in a hospital every day, its so easy to forget just how intimidating, and scary it can be for patients and their relatives Giving directions to someone who seems lost, holding the door, a simple smile.. Little things that can mean so much to worried patients

    This is so important. When the public think about HPV vaccination their minds usually turn to cervical cancer BUT HPV is also responsible for so many cancers in the throat and it can be as deadly as cervical cancer.. HPV vaccination for boys and girls will save lives in future

    Been an emotional day. Took my PhD on HF & medical error to the University printers as want a couple of hard bound copies I dedicated the work to my late father who died a few years back It's hit me hard he's not around to read it Here's to all those also missing loved ones..

    "HF affects every single one of us no matter what we do... " With an ageing population, we must remember to include social-care too.

    Most definitely Richard but ran out of space.. indeed I would say all of healthcare.. HF affects every single one of us no matter what we do...

    shocking! what stops people from speaking up? A fear of not progressing? A fear of not being heard? A lack of trust in leadership?

    Absolutely thrilled to have written a paper for with one of the Red Arrows pilots on human factors for improving team working for our trainees & enhancing patient safety One mistake from one of these guys would be catastrophic. So many principles also apply to surgery!!

    This morning I was talking in spirit withYou how you will publish your doctoral thesis It took a few hours to get the answer Dreams come true The question remains when the Uni libary publishes doctorate? I have a lot of dreams One of them is Your lecture in PL 🇵🇱

    On call this weekend so printed out the final version of my PhD, approved by the examiners Will get it professionally scanned this week as 269 pages so likely to be a huge file.. The Uni library will then make it public & freely available Thanks so much for all your support!

    Agree - anything that compromises effective and happy team working is detrimental to patient safety My simple answer: if you or a team member is angry and it’s safe to do so, just STOP for a few minutes & re-evaluate. Situation awareness is regained and the team is happy again

    Meanness is bad for outcomes in surgery. And these aren’t the only studies that show it.

    Article in about learning instead of blaming individuals when things go wrong. YES we are all accountable for our actions BUT my recent PhD found that so many errors are multi-factorial with origins within organisations. LEARN NOT BLAME!

    Today is the longest day of the year.. I’m lucky as have had a few extra hours of sunlight flying back to the UK this morning from Kuwait.. Managed to bring some blue sky with me but not the 40+ Celsius temperatures Have a great weekend!
