“I am cringe, but I am free.”
This is the most awkward, brave, and kind conversation with Pixar filmmaker and badass creator Domee Shi. https://bit.ly/3Fmob51
In this episode of “Dare to Lead,” Kam Franklin and I talk about what it means to lead a creative team.
She explains the daily conflict that bubbles up in the creative process and how normalizing that conflict helps get to the creative magic.
for calling me and saying, "Hey, I have an idea." And, equally grateful for the writers who shared their hearts, their stories, and their truths with the world. Happy 1 year anniversary to "You Are Your Best Thing!"
has had on my life. This truly unforgettable two-part conversation left me filled to the brim with love and connection. #UnlockingUshttps://bit.ly/3xFMt8k
’s new book. All of us are a little untethered right now, which means a lot of projecting our own fears and anxieties onto other people. Sometimes, if we get really quiet—quiet enough to hear ourselves—we realize we know. https://bit.ly/35UBaxG
was a deep dive into focus, attention, and the myth of multitasking. Plus, I got to ask questions for a “friend,” like, Why does watching reruns of “Law & Order” help me code data and write? https://bit.ly/3qsPGn7
’s new book "Bittersweet." This book grabs you by the heart and doesn't let go.
Join us for a 2-part convo on #UnlockingUs. We talk about about sad songs, the beauty of longing, and a little Leonard Cohen, of course. https://bit.ly/3Da2010
“A toxic corporate culture is by far the strongest predictor of industry-adjusted attrition and is 10 times more important than compensation in predicting turnover.” Today, a powerful conversation with Donald and Charlie Sull on the Great Resignation. https://bit.ly/3Co1kVh
and John Higgins, particularly this caution to leaders: “Disregarding employee activists may be the equivalent of ignoring the canary in the coal mine.” https://bit.ly/3tahgWY
We have committed an initial $250,000 to Ukraine—$150,000 of which is already on the ground right now—for the most urgent needs, including medical supplies, food and cash.

Deep gratitude for all of the folks in palliative care around the world-the social workers, nurses, docs, techs, admins, everyone. These are some of the hardest edges of love. And, so often we look away from these edges until the very moment we find ourselves standing on it. ❤️
Regardless of enforceability, Abbott and Paxton’s actions against trans youth politicizes people’s lives for gain. Turning care givers and teachers into reporters is a fear tactic reminiscent of historic demonization and witch hunts. All people are worthy of love and belonging.
Never surprised to see Abbott, Paxton, and Patrick courting Texas extremists out of fear - they’ve never been brave or well-informed leaders. But their collective capacity for cruelty still stuns.
I stand with the trans communities across Texas.
Texas AG Ken Paxton has declared all forms of gender-affirming care for trans youth child abuse under existing law, threatening parents and doctors with prosecution and forcing all mandated reporters of child abuse to report trans kids to state agencies. https://dallasnews.com/news/politics/2022/02/21/texas-attorney-general-ken-paxton-health-care-for-transgender-children-is-abuse/…
says no. He lays out a provocative new approach to reimagining justice in his new book, “The Four Pivots.” He’s bringing the fire in our convo on “Unlocking Us.” A healing fire. 🔥https://bit.ly/3BI7Y8B
. His new book is breathtaking, and his words wrap themselves around your heart and squeeze. They heal but also push and pull and ask really hard questions. https://bit.ly/3JAG5lE
1. I can’t wait for #Bittersweet! It’s incredible and as life affirming as “Quiet”
2. I probably don’t need to tell you this because we’re in the same sad song fan club, but the list won’t be complete without “Ne me quitte pas” by Jacques Brel ❤️❤️❤️
is the best.
We’re distributed all over the country, but I can hear the collective laughter. It’s not just the scores - it’s the commentary.
#229 is especially funny.
I will not be releasing any podcasts until further notice. To our #UnlockingUs and #DaretoLead communities, I’m sorry and I'll let you know if and when that changes.
Stay awkward, brave, and kind. ❤️👊🏼❤️
“Unlocking Us” is back—and starting with a deep dive into values. I can’t think of a more powerful way to double down on ourselves than getting clear on our values. (P.S. Head to our home page for the exercise Barrett and I work through in this episode.) https://spoti.fi/3Ay5Kbh
