    New weekly LAPD COVID cases DOUBLED from the week before. If a cop gets COVID it costs us a shitload of money in medical testing/care/therapy as well as in sick time. That’s even if they are asymptotic. These cops are negligent with our public health as well as public finances.

    A thing that comforted me the other day was thinking about people as particular arrangements of atoms. It's unlikely that we'll see an arrangement of atoms exactly like my dad every again, but time is long and the universe is vast. Maybe he and I will coexist somewhen again.

    I keep trying to think "we've been through this before and we survived", but we haven't. My brain finds it really hard to understand that this whole pandemic thing is not something that we as a species have ever handled well.

    I’m worried about its potential to wipe out ranks of HCWs, many of us vaxxed > 7 months ago = waned immunity relative to much of the public. It’s depressing, but we need to change behaviors in response to the mounting data showing that delta presents a new level of risk. 3/5
