Brendan, this is outstanding work. I appreciate the efforts it took you to write this up. How long did you investigate for this story before you reported it?

Thanks! Shear's statement was June 22, so it wasn't too long after that. I guess I've been working on it for about three months now.

Hey it feels pretty shitty to include a journalist who severely mistreated her sources when writing sexual assault stories in an article that contains others coming forwsrd and is generally about accountability for those who mistreat others.https://twitter.com/alienmelon/status/1249439715142467584?s=20 …

Wow this is really surprising, I did a couple of interviews with her earlier this year on the Twitch blackout and she was incredibly professional and clear about her intentions/how my story would be used. Very disappointing to read her badgering people for their accounts.

I've never seen a *man* work on an article like this for 3 months, or even write something so spectacular. Thank you from behalf of women and men for this article. You've done amazing work!

Exactly how I feel! I was surprised when other media outlets turned out stories in a few days and he was still following up months later, but having seen the final product, it makes so much sense. Absolutely incredible work. So grateful for this level of journalistic integrity!
