Not that I defend his views, but what happened to the hacker ethos of only caring of code and ignoring personal views?
I wrote C code at Netscape, but it's the wrong language for the job that JS does.

BTW I do recall '80s/'90s quasi-left-libertarian ethos. As w/ John Locke there were limits to tolerance, but wider.

I didn't see much of a limit. But yeah - I doubt a child rapist would've been accepted regardless of code.
