A hallmark of colonialism is colonizers appointing individuals from among the colonized to serve as administrators within the colonial power. “Diversity & inclusion” is really not as groundbreaking as folks are pretending & that’s why we aren’t seeing substantive change.

Kind of both. The material issue is more the latter, but it's enabled by the former. Representational politics is a narrow-minded focus on getting *individuals* from marginalized groups into positions of power without too much consideration for how they'll benefit everyone else.

Feeling the exact same thing + I hate that labels are only used to split the people in parts that then fight each other while these people only "present" a spectacle motivating these divisions, never telling what the plurality wants. (I'm french, this systems fails here too)
