It says that while we really don’t know where we came from, either Biblically or via the Big Bang or whatever else, we can estimate where we came from in the short term.

That our obsession over DNA tests was inevitable once we accepted identity politics as a valid substitute for ideas.

I don’t think it’s a bad/negative thing. I think everyone wants to know who am I, where/who did I come from, why am I here, and where am I going. All wonderful philosophic/existential questions. I worry more about those who do not ask these questions than about those who do.

To me its curiosity, which is a healthy human trait. However some may be trying to angle the results as a superiority rank/title.

It says we are curious about ourselves and our history. PLEASE don't make DNA testing another thing we need to feel shameful for or guilty about. It's innocent fun and it's really interesting if your hobby is genealogy (like me :)

People are lonely and desperately cling to anything that gives them a sense of belonging. I’m Scandinavian, Irish, French, English and I am told, Dutch. I’ve long held the feeling of being a mutt and take no issue with it. (No DNA testing done.)
