No, I mean what is it that you think people should study? How can thousands of different reports all point to the same thing? Maybe there's several phenomena? Hundreds even?

Well, take your everyday lightning. There’s black lightning, upwards shooting lightning bolts, ball lightning, lightning striking the same place or person multiple times - and this is but a small fraction of the way this one phenomenon - electricity- manifests itself in nature.

Ball lightning is not proven to actually exist.
