Naturally they were hoping for a real mulitation case but they had to make do with this. The producers then built a whole case around this dubious scenario and shot themselves in the foot with it. I think you're being naive in swallowing this.

Dubious scenario? Hardly. What are the chances that a cow would die from stress, when alone in the corner of a ranch with unusual gamma & microwave radiation, multiple cell phones malfunctioning & other anomalies? Oh, & the carcass hasn’t been touched by scavengers in 9 months.

Exactly. That is precisely what the show needed, not the contrived business we got.

Nothing was contrived. The fact that it didn’t all conveniently fit into the historical narrative or conveniently match past historical accounts & was captured in real-time by the cameras (not some 15-20 yr old recounting of events) w/genuine reactions demonstrates credibility.

The fact is, the whole subject is filled with people that no matter what wont be pleased or happy.

The problem was having the program structured as an 'entertainment' rather than a serious documentary. I think this has backfired on the producers and because of these editorial choices some of the content's integrity has (rightly or wrongly) been called into question.

The challenge is in selecting a medium that will best accomplish all objectives. Based on my limited experience, it appears quite difficult to near impossible, especially given the scope of this particular endeavor. A “serious documentary” effort has its own extreme limitations.
