I'm watching the show. I'm on ep 2. One question I have is re. Thomas's symptoms i.e. the buildup of fluid on his skull. Are his medical records available?

Seems like a big HIPPA violation to release medical records no?

Well, perhaps doctored in a way that his privacy is protected. Or maybe it could only be shared with medical doctors instead of the public at large

I think what would be interesting is to do a search of the literature to find any similar cases and then see if there’s some sort of common cause they can measure at the ranch.

Which would suggest that perhaps the condition is fairly novel or at least really rare as they presented it on the show. I mean they are sharing anecdotal evidence which may not cut in a scientific journal but they’re also conducting experiments and attempting to gather hard data

Nothing presented in the show will convince hardcore skeptics. The only silver lining may be in attracting the attention of other scientists and welcoming their perusal of whatever data they might have gathered. I admit it. I find the show interesting

I’m not sure people thoroughly understand skepticism who think facts are subject to convincing. I also don’t think many people get the original thread tweet: if it’s called science, it should have objectives, goals, measurable results, etc. Established protocols.

I get it, Jack. From the beginning I questioned the approach of making a TV show instead of releasing peer reviewed papers. Brandon has said there's been hardly any interest from the scientific community. I assume the show is intended to pique the interest of those scientists...

In which case the next logical step would be to offer access to the data if academics do knock on the SWR team's door.

Indeed! I welcome the opportunity to do this.

Alternatively, the whole ‘science luring through a tv show’ might be just that: a rationale for the tv show in the first place.
