According to http://Dictionary.com , Gossip is defined as: idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others. Doesn’t sound positive or productive to me. In fact, it sounds unkind.

Yes, I read the article (not a bad article - thought provoking), and acknowledge that it noted that most conversations monitored were neutral...I don’t think much of what they were citing fits the definition of “gossip”. I wasn’t criticizing the article.

That's fair, though the definition of gossip tends to vary from dictionary to dictionary. I guess the reinforces the idea that everyone's definition is different.
