I love all the arts, but I love movies most because they combine so many of them.

Brad Bird’s Tweets

I thank everyone that has tweeted kind & supportive words to me over the years & I can’t wait for you to see the many new film projects I’m working to bring to a (hopefully resurgent) cinema (and yes, streaming platform) near you. I wish you all the best. Be good to each other.

My New Year Resolution: Step away from social media. Time is precious, and I’ve spent too much of mine checking my phone for the latest outrage. I want to focus on making some good things and I need to reclaim the time I spend staring at this tiny, hypnotic, everything rectangle.

Though the standard rap is that screenplays are unreadable, I’ve always felt that they can be as inspirational as the great movies that spring from them. Fueling high hopes for the live action (with animation) musical project ⁦⁩ & I are working on with these...

We have a good home theater too & SOUL played well there. But it doesn’t compare with the electric buzz of seeing a movie without interruption on a GIANT screen in a great theater packed with strangers. A movie’s moment in that particular sun grows ever shorter & more sacred.

I loved its intimacy; watching it ensconced with the family at home, with our HDR screen and Atmos setup was better than the theater experience, imo.

CONGRATULATIONS to Pete Docter, Pixar & the SOUL team. Funny, creative, touching, endlessly inventive, it’s a healing balm for our better angels in a punishing time. Tho I’m sad people won’t experience its wonders with strangers on a big screen, I’m so glad it’s out in the world.

Nah— both those guys were good. It has to be more PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE-ish. Who did the music for PLAN 9? Gordon Zahler! Gordon Zahler buying stock music by Bruce Campbell, Trevor Duncan, Van Phillips and Steve Race! At discount prices!

Can my eyes roll farther back into my head? This whole thing — from the off-brand Golan-Globus sound of “Space Force” to the lame Star Trek ripoff logo to calling their cadets “Guardians” — sounds like it was coughed up by a Cminus student in a Junior High creative writing class.

Today, after a yearlong process that produced hundreds of submissions and research involving space professionals and members of the general public, we can finally share with you the name by which we will be known: Guardians.

These classic WB cartoons were made for ADULTS first and foremost, a key to their longevity that most people miss. Kids like them (because, hey, they’re really funny), but they weren’t aimed at kids.

THREAD: Old movie stars caricatured in classic cartoons. One of the actors most frequently parodied in old Bugs Bunny cartoons is Edward G. Robinson, the gangster movie icon famous for his "yeah, see, yeah" lingo. Side-by-side comparison of the real Edward G. and the cartoon.

Gardeners call a plant that grows on its own from a seed in the wind (rather than being deliberately planted) a “volunteer”, not unlike a new RATATOUILLE musical created by Tik-Tok users. It streams on TodayTix Jan 1, 7 PM ET as a benefit for The Actors Fund. Vive la nature!

Leaving twitter for a new platform called SWORBENGORTZ. Sworbengortz is open to all opinions, conspiracy theories, & false information that creates life-threatening scenarios. Sworbengortz is what the 1st amendment is all about. At least, my version of it. See u at Sworbengortz.

Today I’m doing what I like to call “circulatory writing” which is where you don’t write at all but you think about writing and then you beat yourself up for not writing and then you start to write but you can’t write and it’s torture

Sad as I am that this has been a year away from the Cinema experience I love, my motion picture love flames have been completely stoked by Scott Frank’s brilliant THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT. Amazing work, Frank & Co, and good on you, for backing such a wonderful thing.

One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. No time, full animation, TONS of different characters, done with a crew in Hungary (Varga Studios) who had never drawn the Simpsons before and few of whom spoke English. Somehow... it all turned out.

Happy 30th Anniversary for the release of the Simpsons #DotheBartman single track! I couldn’t imagine how @BradBirdA113 & his crew managed to get through this music video in a matter of two days of storyboarding and all.
