Growing up in the u.s. and even until now, every single news report about Haiti was followed by “the poorest country in the Western Hemishpere.” It’s like that’s Haiti’s last name or something.

Every single report on Haiti simultaneously informed the world to hate Haitians and the Haitians to hate ourselves. There’s an ongoing campaign to slander Haiti and everything we represent to the African world, and the threat we represent to white power imperialism.

It is up to those of us who know better and didn’t fall for the brainwashing to report on Haiti the way Haiti should be reported on. That is what I have begun and will continue doing as the Haiti Editor for The Burning Spear Newspaper. Haiti is not the problem: white power is!
