    Classy tributes for a classy guy. When I went to work at the BBC in Belfast in 1985 Bill was already one of the big boys.

    To get one tribute like this is amazing, to get more than one (as I did) is dangerous for my head size. Thank you to all my wonderful, generous colleagues for taking the time to put (another) large lump in my throat. Looking forward to that hug . Amazing.

    Very interesting parallels

    The Ever Given story brings to mind the 14 merchant ships stranded in the Suez Canal in 1967. The closure of the canal had a huge impact on world trade and allowed the development of an extraordinary community.

    Such an incredibly important read. Sitting in Western capitals, lauding anti imperial forces with little regard for cost on lives of people in region has had a devastating impact. It’s fine to be up in arms abt US airstrikes in Syria but what abt damage done by Russia strikes?
