  2. A search committee has been formed to identify the sixteenth president of Bowdoin College. Members were drawn from the board of trustees, faculty, administrative and support staff, student body, and alumni community. Learn more here!

  3. This year, the Common Good Grant program—which functions essentially like a student-run charity—gave away a record amount to Midcoast organizations. It also had a record number of student applications. Read more about it here.

  4. The annual President's Award Luncheon, fondly called PAL, is a chance for the College president, deans, and others to applaud a few stand-out students, particularly seniors, for their exemplary leadership, service, and narrative skills.

  5. The NSF has awarded senior John Hood with a Graduate Research Fellowship to pursue a PhD in statistics at the University of Chicago. It's uncommon for a Bowdoin student to receive the award while still an undergraduate. Congratulations, John!

  9. Gillian King ’22 and Joshua Lin ’22 experienced something rare at Bowdoin. The two graduating seniors were able to share a passion many of the rest of us know little about, as well as practice and perform duets together.

    Kate Furbish was born this month in 1834 and dedicated herself to compiling "Flora of Maine", donated to . She described Pedicularis furbishiae and Aster cordifolius var furbishiae, and her 4k specimens were passed from to Gray .

  17. This academic year, Multilingual Mainers had its largest cohort of Bowdoin students volunteering to teach languages at the local elementary school. To celebrate, they threw a playground fiesta in May with live music and dancing.
