  3. Well argued. Race in and other classic novels—just like the 'real world' that they imaginatively engage—is far more complex than the representation of the skin color of any creature. This complexity is why shaped metaphors of slavery & colonialism.

  4. worked hard to connect with rural voters in the Midwest...something the Democratic party *must* do to win in 2020. The other Dem candidates (and their followers) need to pay attention & respect, not sow discord in the party ranks.

  7. is not unique. Having participated in the caucus system in rural Maine, I know it's messy and unpredictable by its grassroots design. When I helped run a campaign in ME in 2010, I found the Democratic party app—supposedly the key to Obama's election in 2008—to be clunky.
