Just acquitted of double homicide. I know he was serving a life sentence but we have a major problem with the prison system in the US

It's odd when people say something like this is so sad because of a person's talents and abilities. Why is it any more sad than anyone else?

Because it's sad to see the God-given gift of talent thrown away. It's not a commentary on the value of life per se but on wasted ability.
