I was diagnosed with PTSD in 1992. I admit I struggled for years because of guilt, anger, and depression. I have buttons that can be pushed which create moments of undesirable intense feeling. I've had to limit my participation in life. The VA has helped.

The 1.5X suicide stat ignores *selection bias*. The population that *joins* the military is different from population that doesn't. Important (though unpopular) point b/c it implies different potential causation: might be poor childhood, not active service

Compare it to homeless suicide rates or impoverished suicide rates. Maybe speak to selection bias variables in ptsd populations not socioeconomic bias. Can't assume that statistics or even math can explain what is happening. Look at what it means to speak up.
