“In order to dismantle systemic supremacy and do the hard work of healing, there can be no fast forgiveness and erasure of wrongdoing.
Peeling back the privilege and confronting the structural oppression: That’s the show of grace these apologies need.” @SincerelyJenee

1/ The 4 offenses of the women you present seem quite different to me. Collins & Bono show no empathy & their apologies are clearly self serving.

2/ IMO Bette, like many white women, sincerely wants to be an ally to all women, made a mistake. Many white women don’t speak out in support of black women for fear of a misstep that incurs wrath. Would educating those trying to combat privilege be preferable to angry retorts?

3/ Warren’s problem is much more nuanced. IMO she wants to be in a position powerful enough to help the sisterhood. Thus, one must get elected. D’s have learned the hard way that not responding to Trump-like attacks is fatal. I agree her explanation should include more awareness

I flat out said the woman had good politics.

I guess writing to encourage dialogue and make people think is not your thing. Sorry I took the time to read & respond. Never mind!

You actually published the embarrassment? This insults anyone with an IQ above room temperature... a paper that hid its own sexual harassers, came up with a phony series on race in Boston, it’s beneath contempt...Globe Standard of journalism...
