“Carnage” refers to dead human or animal bodies. Civilized newspapers don’t refer to “cleaning up carnage” even when there HAS been a mass slaughter, and responsible journalists DON’T call massive, chaotic property damage “carnage.” You’re newspaper of record, write like it.
