It's more rude when a slow walker doesn't leave room for others to pass or is oblivious to the fact that they are in the waypic.twitter.com/fVaFFkaYa9

Speaking as someone "infirm", as you put it, intentionally lagging behind me would just make me self conscious and the whole thing awkward.

Most Boston poll response ever. Of course it's not rude! Also, the less elderly and/or infirm, the closer one should get to said slow walker while passing him/her.

As long as you can clear them without physically brushing into them, it's fine

Well, zip if you must . . . but making sure the slow walker is given lots of room and you aren't interfering with their balance/direction/control/speed.

Yes...I mean there's a way you do it as to not startle the person. But yea, say "excuse me" and stored away!

The street is for everyone. Keep right so others can pass by unhampered. It is rude not to do so.

If a elderly person is walking up to a door and they were in front of me, I would go ahead of them and open the door for them. If I was on a side walk and if i can pass, I would pass.

Yes, why is everyone in a rush? I've stood in the middle of the street to make sure elderly or disabled get across safely. How would you feel if you were that person? Be better

You should’ve made this two separate questions. No, it’s not rude in general. It is rude if the people are elderly or infirm. In the latter case pass by more slowly.

I voted no, but only if you give them sufficient warning. (on your left/right, etc)

No, especially if you wait for an appropriate spot (no tight squeezing by) and if you say "pardon me." I have been the slow Walker (blown out knees) and that never bothered me.
