In @GlobeOpinion: Watch your attitude. Act like a lady. Oh, and if you’re a black woman, never, ever get upset or you’ll be forever tagged as that most terrifying and despised creature: the Angry Black Woman.http://bos.gl/8RW5OIe

If I spoke to my supervisor in the manner that Serena spoke to the Chair Umpire I would have been fired - she lost 5 points in a tennis match and had to pay a $17k fine. Her prize money for making the final is $1.85M - the chair umpire was paid $450 for the final.

@reneeygraham The narrative that Serena herself is propagating which resonates with people is attractive because yes sexism and racism exists. But this is the actual sequence of what happened.https://twitter.com/ludwitt/status/1038990730746896384?s=21 …

The insanity in much of media over what happened in the #USOpen2018 women’s finals as some institutional conspiracy against Serena in particular and minority women in general typifies how easy narratives trump facts in today’s landscape. First here’s what happened: 1/

Is Kyrgios a black woman? Was McEnroe? Naomi Osaka is, and she is getting erased because Americans simply can't cope with losing.

I thought her behavior was over the top. Being upset is understandable but calling the umpire a thief? By the way her coach admitted he coached her from the stands so her tantrum is even more outrageous. She clearly lied in her defense.

Thanks for reposting. The reaction to Serena Williams arguing with an umpire is so blatantly racist/misogynist. Why is that so hard for some of the press to see?

Here we go again with the race card! Her behavior was very unbecoming for a multi-multi millionaire, on national TV & admired by so many! Her race had nothing to do with this, only if you want to spin it that way! For a split second or two she lost her mind, period!!

This is bigger than the angry black woman. There are SO many examples of “angry, hysterical” white women as well, Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Clinton, etc., etc. This is about men being threatened by strong women, black or white. We have a long way to go to balance the scales.
