Because it’s not played in the inner cities. Soccer has always been rich kid sport here. Played mostly in private schools or affluent suburban towns. The professional league is too large. There are not any real rivalries. Think what a Bos/N.Y. rivalry would be like

Because alternatives like baseball, football, are much more celebrated as a potential career/have better Junior development programs. It doesn't make sense that soccer should be a rich kid sport, because it certainly isn't elsewhere and requires low investment to start up/run.

Why post a question and not answer it? This is an example of your terrible reporting. American football is played yer in the fall as is soccer. The dominance and financial investment in football is far more prevelant. The real problem with soccer is it’s a pay to play....
